342 - Give us the ability to add a "Record" button to J100 phones
planned

When I'm on a call using the ACO Web app there is a "Record" button on the dialpad, yet when I am on a call with my J139 desk phone I have to do an old-school *9 in order to start (and stop) the recording. I want to be able to give my end users (I'm the admin) the ability to press a soft key/line key to start and stop the call recording. There's no reason we all should have to remember that a certain key sequence means start/stop recording. Support says there is no way to do this currently.
Edited to show the asterisk.

Avaya Cloud Office is scheduled to provide J100 phones with the 4.1.9 firmware update in November, 2025. The IAUG volunteer team requests that the submitter and voters let us know in these comments if they see the record button appear natively on the phones after the firmware update, or if configuration is required by administrators.

Avaya has let the IAUG volunteer team know that call recording from a feature button for ACO is available for J100 phones as of July, 2025. However, there is still work required on the ACO side to fully deliver the feature to end-users. See links below to notes and firmware. IAUG will continue to monitor progress with Avaya.

We’ve confirmed with Avaya that this functionality is planned for the 4.1.9 firmware release for J100-series phones, which is currently targeted for July 2025. However, availability to ACO users may depend on RingCentral’s rollout timeline, which is not yet confirmed. We will check back with Avaya in August, 2025. Craig Rhinehart, let us know if you see the feature available before then.
