This message relates to the latest version that the IT team have chosen to deploy in their enterprise. This is the same kind of model as Windows where an Enterprise can control the updates available.
Are you suggesting you want the client to be able to update from the Internet ? If so that would still need to be an Enterprise controllable setting but it could be a benefit to smaller companies that don't want to manage updates.

There should be an option in AADS to disable or remove the "check for update" since some environments require administrative permission to perform an upgrade and rely on SCCM to push global updates.
