This is nothing new for mobile phones but if we can do the same on the J-series or Vantage phones this will help get some traction with some of our millenial users.

The volunteer team discussed this with Avaya, and this functionality exists for 96X1 series phones, and it has also been delivered for the J1XX series. It is not available for the Vantage phones.

This is already a feature of the 96x1 SIP and J1x9 SIP phones. You just edit the contact and you can assign a different ringtone. Administrators can, through the 46xxsettings.txt file, cause the phone to download additional custom ring tone WAV files.

As a side note: The 96x1 SIP phones don't support delayed ringing on brdg-appr lines. My solution was to supply a custom ringtone WAV file that has 2 or 3 rings worth of silence at the beginning before playing "Ring Tone 3" (the default on 9611s).

Sam Osheroff: Thank you Sam. What about the Avaya Vantage phone K155 and K175?

Jon Perez: I don't have a vantage to look at but a quick of the newest User Guide didn't show an option to set a ring tone per contact.

Sam Osheroff: Hello Sam, we know for sure that it doesn't support it as we have a user who was sold on the idea of changing their J139 with a Vantage K155 phone and are losing some functionality such as this one.
